the projects

Namelok School

Namelok School has enrolled 70 students, some of whom are considered orphaned. They are provided with boarding, meals, guidance and security. While education is a priority for every child, the orphaned children are in dire need of a place to call home.

Kipawa

Kipawa is a grassroots project aiming to offer women and youth in Northern Tanzania a chance to provide for themselves financially. Each one-of-a-kind handcraft is made by Maasai women in the village of Simanjiro  and by a group of young artisans in the city of Arusha.

Volunteer work

This year Be SomeOne Worldwide will be hosting volunteers to spend their making a difference by construction projects, women’s empowerment initiatives, and education expansion. Your work will have an impact on the lives of children, women and the entire community, and it will consist in different projects and work areas:

Construction

Since our first construction project in 2014, volunteers have been responsible for the completion of a four classroom building, girls and boys toilets, a kitchen and water harvesting systems. We will continue our work in the village by building sleeping accommodations and income generating projects such as chicken coops and live stock fencing.

Women’s Empowerment Initiatives

There are several ways to create a positive impact in the lives of women and girls in Simanjiro through our capacity building workshops and jewelry line. KIPAWA was created as a way to produce jobs, generate income and build futures. Put your business skills or creative talents to use by partnering with these women in design and the execution of products and buisiness development.

Education Expansion

Education in the Maasai community is becoming an increasingly important institution. Volunteers will have the opportunity to spend time with the children in school, participating in many ways to help build the skills of its students.  From simply spending time speaking simple English to children, to one-on-one tutoring sessions, volunteers can have a huge impact on the education of the Maasai children. With the help of the teachers we will have different activities planned that will allow volunteers to be hands on in the school, giving children fun new outlets for learning and growing.
